The Young Miss Chilton County hopefuls, decked out in their boots and cowboy hats, spent Tuesday afternoon on the farm at their Princess Party at the Pumpkin Patch.

The girls, ages 8-12, participated in a line dance, searched for a needle in a haystack and ate pizza.

Amy Williams, mother of current Young Miss Chilton County Candice Williams and coordinator of the party, said it gives the girls something fun to do during a week filled with practices.

She said she thought the theme of the party, “Party at the Farm,” was appropriate for what the pageant represents.

“The Miss Chilton County queens represent the agriculture in the county, so we thought it would be a fun thing to do,” she said.

Williams said the girls enjoy meeting new friends and seeing familiar faces.

“The majority of them compete in the pageants every year,” she said.

The Young Miss Chilton County pageant will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Chilton County High School auditorium. Admission is $5.
