Applications for the 2009 Peach Pageants are available at various locations around Chilton County.
Locations include the following: all public schools, the Clanton Advertiser office, Chilton County News, Brenda’s Formal Wear and Peaches N Cream.
All prospective contestants ages 5-18 should pick up an application and obtain four wallet size photos. Applications and photos are due at orientation, which will be Sunday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the Helen Parrish Activity Center of First United Methodist Church.
Orientation is mandatory for all contestants.
“There will be no late entries,” Chilton County Peach Festival chairman Richard Davis said. “If you don’t sign up on May 3, you won’t get in it.”
There are four categories in the Peach Pageants: Little Miss (ages 5-7), Young Miss (8-11), Junior Miss (12-14) and Miss (15-18).
Pageant times and dates are scheduled as follows: Little Miss Peach — Saturday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m.; Young Miss Peach — Monday night, June 22; Junior Miss Peach — Tuesday night, June 23; Miss Peach — Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m. All will be held in Chilton County High School’s auditorium.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Little Miss Peach Pageant, and all former Little Miss Peach Queens will be recognized at the pageant.
A dress rehearsal will precede the Miss Peach Pageant on Wednesday night, June 24, followed by interviews the morning of the pageant.
“We have changed the party venues for each category,” Davis said. “They will be going to a new place to have their parties.”
The annual swim party is June 13. Junior Miss contestants will hold practice followed by a nail party June 15. The Young Miss contestants will visit Tom Bentley’s peach orchard and pick peaches June 16, and on that same day, Miss Peach contestants will paint at a local art studio and Little Miss contestants will plant flowers at Petals from the Past in Jemison.
