Thorsby football coach resigns

Daryl Davis handed in his resignation as Thorsby’s football coach effective immediately, the Chilton County Board of Education reported Tuesday.
BOE accepted the resignations of Davis and maintenance employee Bobby Gore during their regular meeting. Gore’s resignation is effective Jan. 1.
In other business, Howard Daugherty was named board president and Ann Glasscock vice president for 2008-09 by majority vote.
Both Daugherty and former president Curtis Smith were nominated for the position of president. The new officials took their positions immediately.
The board also:
approved distributing December payroll checks on Dec. 29
hired Macy McGriff as an extended-day aide at Jemison Elementary School, and hired Bonnie Daniels as a cafeteria assistant at Chilton County High School
granted Lee Mehler permission to tear down an old house located on property adjacent to Verbena School recently purchased by the board
granted permission for Chilton County Education Association members to attend the AEA Delegate Assembly in Montgomery on Dec. 4-6.
