Lady Hawks roll past in-state rival Judson, 3-0

MARION – After dropping three of its last four matches, the Huntingdon volleyball team got back on track with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-10) victory over in-state foe Judson on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Lady Hawks get back over the .500 mark on the season and are now 11-10 on the season.

Leading the offensive attack for Huntingdon was sophomore Clare Shannon, who tallied a match-high 10 kills. Freshman Abby Carter added nine kills, while junior Kayla Schuran chipped in eight.

Junior Julie Wahl and freshman Alyssa Eason also fueled the Lady Hawks’ offense with the serve, as Wahl recorded four service aces and Eason posted three. The duo also quarterbacked the team by combining for 31 assists during the match.

Defensively, senior Emily Hand, of Jemison, led Huntingdon with 14 digs, while Wahl, Eason and sophomore Krissie Jones each chipped in 10 digs.

Schuran paced the defense at the net with two solo blocks and a block assist.

The Lady Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, October 15, when they host Great South Athletic Conference rival Spelman at the Wilson Athletic Center. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
