A young Marbury team couldn’t keep up with the Dadeville Tigers last night in a grueling 27-6 loss.

Humidity was an enemy during the course of the game, as several downed players were carried off the field. Of most concern was Dadeville’s Andrew Padgett, who suffered a broken arm in the second quarter after catching a screen pass.

The Tigers (2-0) stacked up 20 points in the first half, holding Marbury scoreless until late in the third quarter when the Bulldogs’ Pierre Warren scored on a 16-yard run. The Bulldogs (0-3) failed to capitalize on the extra point, however.

Dadeville’s final touchdown came with 10:48 in the fourth quarter, and was followed by a failed 46-yard field goal attempt.

Marbury’s top rusher was Tyler Crane with 75 yards on 16 carries. Quarterback Keston Chatman threw 3 for 8 for a total 35 yards.

Pierre Warren and Wesley Warren each had interceptions.

Marbury coach Kyle Glover said he played 12 sophomores, five freshmen and two eighth graders in last night’s contest.

“We’re not making any excuses,” Glover said.
