Lt. Gov. Folsom coming Tuesday night

The state’s second most important official will be in town next Tuesday night.

Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom Jr. will be the guest speaker at the Chilton County Democratic Club’s monthly meeting, which will be held in the Chilton County High School lunchroom. Tickets for the event are $30 per person. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

“Everyone is invited,” said Probate Judge and Chilton County Democratic Club spokesperson Bobby Martin.

Folsom was elected lieutenant governor in 2006. He served previously in the office after being elected in 1986 and 1990. He also became governor in April 1993 after former Gov. Guy Hunt left office.

While it is unknown exactly what Folsom will speak about Tuesday night, Martin expects Folsom to touch on what is going on in the Senate because the lieutenant governor is over the Senate.

Other issues one might expect to hear about include several state races involving Democrats and also about the Democratic National Convention.

“He (Folsom) attended the national convention last week,” Martin said. “He’s out and about, and a lot people like him.”
