Candidates for Chilton County Commission will have the opportunity to share their views and goals with the public in a political forum on Monday, Sept. 8.
The forum, sponsored by Chilton Leadership, will take place in Courtroom No. 3 of the Chilton County Courthouse at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Jim Seroka, professor of political science at Auburn University, will serve as moderator and will pose questions to each of the candidates. Seroka has moderated local commission forums in the past.
All candidates present will be introduced and given an opportunity to speak.
“I have been to at least two [forums] and found them to be very helpful in determining whom I should vote for,” said Becki McCallum, one of the event’s organizers.
McCallum said she believes other people who attend the forum will find it to be just as helpful.
Members of the general public will have an opportunity to present questions of their own. Any questions that are submitted, however, must first be screened by the forum committee.
“Those who have attended a previous forum will know this is an occasion to hear firsthand the candidates’ responses to pertinent questions in a well-managed setting,” McCallum said. “Please plan to attend this session and determine how your candidate(s) view the important issues facing our county.”
