U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions is scheduled to appear in Jemison for a “meet and greet” Monday, June 30 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Jemison Fire Station located at 191 Main Street and is open to the general public.

“We want to welcome Senator Sessions into our city, and we encourage our citizens to come out and meet him,” said Jemison Mayor Eddie Reed. “It’s not often that we have a U.S. senator visit our city, so we encourage people to take advantage of this rare opportunity.”

On July 7, the mayor will meet with Sessions’ grant writer and office staff about future opportunities for the city.

A delegation from Jemison has traveled to Washington, D.C. on several occasions to meet with their representatives in the national capital.

“[Sen. Sessions] is interested in the City of Jemison and however he can help us,” Reed said.
