Jemison finds momentum in Gulf Coast Classic

Jemison baseball appeared to be building momentum as the season approaches its end as the Panthers won three games during the Gulf Coast Classic on March 28-March 30.

The tournament was hosted by Gulf Shores High School and began with a 3-2 loss for Jemison against a formidable Hueytown squad.

Banks Woodley started for the Panthers and went the distance, striking out eight while allowing seven hits. All three of Hueytown’s runs were unearned.

Will Lenoir led the way at the plate by going two-for-three.

Jemison bounced back with a 9-5 victory over John Carroll as the lineup produced 10 hits.

Phillip Lenoir went 2-for-4 while Woodley finished 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.

Clay Cunningham pitched a complete game and allowed seven hits and walked two while accumulating eight strikeouts.

The offense remained in rhythm during a 10-0 win Shoals Christian.

Will Lenoir hammered his third home run of the season while Logan Ray and Trey Sanders each finished with two RBIs.

Hunter Hood pitched 4 1/3 innings and was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and five walks.

The Panthers wrapped up the tournament with an 8-4 victory over Davidson Academy.

Phillip Lenoir pitched a complete game and provided consistency on the mound, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out two batters.

Five Jemison batters drove in a run during the game as Will Lenoir, Woodley, Phillip Lenoir, Ray and Hood each found success.

Ray finished 2-4 with a double and his fifth home run of the season.
