All seventh through 12th grade students in Chilton County and their parents are invited to attend.

This information-packed workshop is part of a series of events designed to help students and their parents as they begin the process of preparing for college.

At each Countdown-to-College workshop, a panel of representatives from universities and colleges offers tips and advice to parents and students regarding the admissions process, as well as providing information on tuition costs, scholarship opportunities and financial aid.

Representatives from Mississippi State University, Jacksonville State University, Troy University and Faulkner University are scheduled to appear at the local event.

Following the discussion, attendees will have an opportunity to engage in a question-and-answer session and speak one-on-one with the individual college representatives and receive additional materials.

The event is sponsored by Potential magazine, a multi-media resource for parents of college-bound teens. Potential plans to host 15 “Countdown-to-College” workshops during the 2015-16 school year.

The workshops are free of charge and open to the public.
