Editor’s note: Below is a compilation of the statistics and achievements for graduates of Chilton County area schools who now compete at the college level.

Baseball

Cameron Cummings (Chilton County 2013) scored one run as an outfielder for the University of South Alabama (32-17) in a 7-6 loss at the University of Southern Mississippi (28-16-1) on April 29 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

For the season, the sophomore’s tallied 13 runs scored, three RBIs, two stolen bases, one double and a .281 batting average.

Chance Calloway (Chilton County 2012) has totaled two appearances as a relief pitcher for the University of West Florida, which fell to 30-18 overall after sustaining two losses in the Gulf South Conference Tournament from April 2-3 in Livingston, Alabama.

For the season, the junior’s totaled three innings, two strikeouts and a 12 ERA.

Alex Campbell (Jemison 2013) collected a win after firing three strikeouts and allowing two earned runs in a complete-game effort as the pitcher for Wallace Community College – Selma (24-28) in a 7-2 victory in game two of a doubleheader at Jefferson Davis Community College (20-31) on April 30 in Brewton.

For the season, the sophomore’s compiled a 5-4 record, three complete games, 53.1 innings, 39 strikeouts and a 5.23 ERA through 14 appearances and 11 starts.

Craig Headley (Chilton County 2013) batted 2-for-5 and scored one run as a catcher for Jefferson Davis Community College in a 13-7 loss in game one of a doubleheader at home to Wallace Community College – Selma on April 30 in Brewton.

For the season, the sophomore’s totaled 32 runs scored, 18 RBIs, 16 doubles, six stolen bases, two triples, one home run and a .308 batting average.

Blake Teel (Chilton County 2014) finished 1-for-1 at the plate as a designated hitter for Marion Military Institute (30-19) in a 3-1 loss at home to Central Alabama Community College (22-28) on May 2 in Marion.

For the season, the freshman’s tallied five RBIs, three runs scored, one double and a .303 batting average. As a pitcher, he’s added a 5-1 record, three complete games, 57 innings, 17 strikeouts and a 2.37 ERA through 10 starts.

James Ratliff (Chilton County 2014) did not allow an earned run in a two-inning effort as a relief pitcher for Marion Military Institute 9-5 loss at Central Alabama Community College on April 30.

For the season, the freshmen’s compiled 8.2 innings, five strikeouts and a 7.27 ERA through seven appearances.

Golf

Forrest Knight (Chilton County 2013) captured Gulf South Conference first team recognition for the No. 13 University of North Alabama men’s golf program, the conference announced on April 30.

Among the NCAA Division II, the Lions are ranked among the Top 25 by the Golf Coaches Association of America poll released on April 24.

In Knight’s most recent competition, the sophomore clinched the No. 4 performance for the University of North Alabama at the Gulf South Conference Championship by placing 17th with a three-round score of 225 (80-74-71) from April 21-22 in Tunica, Mississippi.

Among the field of 11 teams, UNA clinched runner-up.

This marked Knight’s first appearance since being named GSC Golfer of the month on April 2 for his performances in March.

From March 9-10, he led UNA to a collected 10th among the field of 18 teams at the Southeastern Collegiate Invitational after delivering a first-place finish with a total of 209 (72-67-69) in Valdosta, Georgia.

He followed by securing medalist honors at the Argonaut Invitational with a score of 140 (68-72) in leading the Lions to victory among 16 teams from March 30-April 1 in Pensacola, Florida.

From May 4-6, the Lions resumed competition at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Tournament in Dade City, Florida.

Results were not available at press time.

Women’s track and field

Lori Davis (Billingsley 2012) is a javelin thrower for Alabama State University, which will resume competition at the University of Georgia Invitational on May 9 in Athens, Georgia.

In the junior’s most recent appearance, she led the Hornets to clinch its sixth-consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships title among the field of 10 teams at the conference championship meet from April 24-26 in Normal.

In the competition, she captured a first-place finish in the javelin with a launch of 126 feet, 9.25 inches en route to leading ASU to its 10th conference title in program history.

For the season, she’s posted a personal-best mark in the javelin of 138-7.75.

Rodeo

Nelson Wyatt (Chilton County 2011) captured a berth to compete at the College Nationals Finals Rodeo after clinching a first-place finish among the Ozark Region in a team roping heeler for the season for the University of West Alabama men’s program.

The CNFR will take place in June in Casper, Wyoming.

In Wyatt’s most recent appearance, Wyatt clinched a first-place finish in the steer wrestling event en route to leading the Tigers to victory among the field of nine teams at the University of Tennessee Martin Spring College Rodeo from April 23-25 in Senatobia, Miss.
