Former Chilton County High School golfer Forrest Knight took home the 2015 Southeastern Collegiate Tournament championship, held March 9-10 at Kinderlou Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.

The tournament featured 90 players from 18 teams—12  of which were ranked nationally—and was hosted by Valdosta State University.

Knight, a Chilton County High School graduate playing for the University of North Alabama, came out strong on the first day of the tournament, shooting 72 for the round with two birdies, two bogies and 14 pars to end the day in 13th place.

In the second round, Knight rose up the leaderboard by shooting 67 for the round, sinking six birdies and 11 pars as opposed to one bogie, moving him up to second overall.

The third round saw extremely windy conditions take over the course, leaving Knight to rely on his short game. Knight putted 23 times over 18 holes to shoot 8-under par for the tournament to take the lead.

Knight held on to win the tournament by three strokes, taking his first collegiate win in the process.
