Clanton’s City Council on Monday approved two additions to the city’s fire department.

Matt Griffin and Paul Shearon were approved to be added to the department’s rotation of firefighters.

In other business, the council:

•Approved Mayor Billy Joe Driver to solicit bids for a concession stand at a planned youth softball complex connected to Clanton City Park.

•Heard from Matt Smith, the manager of a new AT&T store near Walmart in Clanton. Smith wanted to introduce himself to the mayor and council.

•Approved the minutes from the Nov. 24 meeting, and the paying of necessary bills.
