Jemison hosts Halloween festivities for preschool children

Jake Day dressed as a firefighter, Jenna Day dressed as Cinderella, Camden Day dressed as Batman and Brendyn Kirkland dressed as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles participated in Halloween festivities on Wednesday during a Halloween theme storytelling hour hosted by the Jemison Public Library at Jemison Municipal Complex.  This is the third year for the event, which allows children to dress up in costumes, parade through city hall, sing songs, and enjoy a story.

“This is just a time where the kids can come dress up and have fun,” Librarian Tammie McGriff said.

Children dressed in costumes ranging from popular superheroes such as Spiderman, Batman and Captain America, to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood.

A lion, scarecrow, fireman, and dinosaur were also some of the characters who attended the storytelling hour.

Jemison Mayor Eddie Reed, staff at city hall, and members of the Jemison Police Department were on site to pass out candy to all of the children who attended.
