With Halloween next Friday, the office staff at Sarrell Dental and Eye Center wanted to include the community in an office pumpkin-decorating contest.

“We are having a Facebook competition,” Kendell Netherly with Sarrell Dental said. “Our office in Clanton chose to replicate the Clanton peach tower, which shows our loyalty to Chilton County. We are encouraging fans to ‘like’ our photo.”

Netherly said the 16 Sarrell Dental and Eye Center offices across Alabama decided to hold the pumpkin carving contest and each office would display the pumpkin in their office while using it for a Facebook competition.

Although no formal prizes will be awarded to the office with the most “likes” on Facebook, Netherly said it is a way to show other staff members across the state how supportive their community is.

“We hope to get as many likes as it takes,” Netherly said. “Even though some of the offices are located in larger communities, we hope everyone who sees or hears about our Clanton pumpkin and has a Facebook account will log on and vote for our iconic pumpkin.”

The staff in Clanton carved the peach tower pumpkin Oct. 16 and Netherly said patients, parents and community members have enjoyed seeing the pumpkin in the office at Sarrell.

“We are the only office that chose to represent the community that we are located in,” Netherly said. “The peach water tower is something that is widely acknowledged across the state, and we knew that Facebook viewers from all over would make the connection to our pumpkin as they have probably seen the water tower at some point while driving on Interstate 65. We are proud to represent Chilton County.”

Fans can visit www.sarrelldental.org and click on the Facebook icon, which will take them to the page.

Voters can “like” the photo of the pumpkin until Oct. 31, and the winner will be determined based on which office has the most likes for their pumpkin.
