Two Chilton County 14-year-olds who had been missing since early Sunday morning were found early Wednesday morning in Birmingham, Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis confirmed.

Kyndell Brooke East and Jana Lynn Cowan were picked up at Children’s Hospital by Jefferson County authorities about 3 a.m. Wednesday, Davis said, and have been returned to their families in Verbena.

Neither of the girls had suffered any harm, Davis said.

The two disappeared from a Verbena residence off County Road 480 overnight Saturday and were last seen near Peach Park at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Missing Child Alerts were issued Monday by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, and those alerts were cancelled Wednesday.

Officials initially thought the girls might have been trying to travel to Moody, where Cowan’s biological mother lives.
