A truck driven by Velasco heading south on U.S. Highway 31 allegedly struck Barbara Jean Headley, 67, of Clanton at about 7 p.m. Sunday as she crossed the highway near Best Cars.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the victim,” Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said.
