The Perfect Peach Line Dancers perform at Senior Connection’s 2013 Variety Show at Clanton First United Methodist Church.

Chilton County Senior Connection’s fourth annual variety show on Thursday will take place in a new location for the first time.

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Senior Connection’s new facility, located at 304 Park Plaza, next to Fred’s, in Clanton.

The show has been held at Clanton First United Methodist Church for the past three years, but the group is ready to start enjoying the perks of its new facility, which includes a stage for performers to use and plenty of seating for the audience.

“We’re so excited to do this,” Senior Connection Coordinator Vanessa McKinney said.

About 200 tickets have been sold, and a limited number will be available at the door before the show Thursday for $7 per person.

Entertainment and special music will be provided by Mike and Mary Schiermann, performing artists from the Chilton County Arts Council; Brannon Burnett, who will perform songs from the Blast from the Past reunion show; Perfect Peach Line Dancers; Crystal Russell; and Doris Jones as emcee.

The event will also include door prizes and a fried chicken lunch with coleslaw, baked beans, roll, dessert and drink.

McKinney said all proceeds from the show would go toward putting the finishing touches on the new facility.

“We always like to keep [the price] down so everybody can come out for a good time,” McKinney said. “Proceeds will go strictly to our building fund because we still have lots of things to buy. We’re constantly raising money for it. We have put so much money in it ourselves.”

Although the floors and kitchen area are not finished yet, the group has officially stopped meeting at the Clanton Recreation Center and started using the new facility for exercise classes this week.
