Two Clanton men were arrested Sunday in connection with an alleged assault.

Quinn Z. Underwood, 22, and Kyonta T. Ware, 22, were arrested at about 1 a.m. Sunday and charged with robbery, second-degree theft of property, assault and possession of a synthetic narcotic (also known as “Spice”), according to a press release from the Clanton Police Department.

Underwood’s and Ware’s arrests followed an investigation by the CPD into an incident that occurred in Clanton on Saturday, the release said.

At about 10 p.m. Saturday, Clanton Police Department West Precinct officers responded to a reported assault.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found a victim with injuries.

The victim said he was on 14th Street asking for directions when he was jumped by two individuals who took his wallet, cash and debit card, the release said.

The victim was treated and released.

Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said he was proud of the quick response of the officers, detectives and citizens who aided in the investigation.

Underwood and Ware were taken to the Chilton County Jail.

Underwood has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sept. 16 with Chilton County District Court Judge Rhonda Hardesty.

Underwood’s bond is set at $30,000.

Ware has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sept. 16 with Hardesty.
