During the public comments section of the meeting, commissioners heard from Alabama state Rep. Paul DeMarco, a Republican candidate in the race for the Sixth Congressional District.

DeMarco said he wanted to introduce himself to commissioners and told those in attendance of Monday’s meeting that he considered Chilton County a priority.

“I have lived in Alabama my entire life,” DeMarco said. “This is my home. It is important to me to have an office in Chilton County so when you need something, you don’t have to go to Washington D.C.”

Commissioners also heard from Jim Pritts who lives on County Road 503 and asked the commission to consider paving his road.

Pritts said he recently moved to the area and wanted commissioners to pave the road that is “just under 1,000 feet in length.”

“I would like you to consider paving the road; and I would donate $10,000 to having the road paved,” Pritts said.

Caton told Pritts to contact Chilton County Engineer Tony Wearren about the possibility of paving County Road 503.

Steve Barnett also approached the commission with road concerns on County Road 512.
