A home was destroyed but no injuries reported from a structure fire Monday night in the 6100 block of County Road 38.

North Chilton Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jason Scott said the house was a total loss and the fire was “well involved” by the time firefighters arrived on the scene around 7 p.m. on Monday.

Scott said West Chilton Volunteer Fire Department along with Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department and North Chilton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire, and Jemison and Thorsby fire departments were on a standby list to pick up calls for those working the fire.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Department and Care Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Firefighters battled the blaze until shortly after 10 p.m.

“We do not know what caused the fire,” Scott said. “That will be investigated by the appropriate insurance company.”

Scott said no one was at the residence at the time of the fire.
