Maplesville’s football team improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Class 1A, Region 3 with a 62-12 win over visiting Akron on Friday.

MHS made it clear early on that Akron couldn’t compete in the game.

The Red Devils recovered an Akron fumble on the Rams’ first possession, and a few plays later, Devonte’ Morrow scored from one yard out on fourth down.

The Devils added scores on an interception return by Kendarius Bradley, a run by Damian Mitchell, a pass from Colby Chambers to Anthony Moore, a run by Corey Hall and a pass from Chambers to Mitchell to make the score 41-0 before Akron got on the scoreboard.

The score was 48-6 at halftime, as Stevonta Bradley added another MHS score.

Jerry Nix ran in two Maplesville touchdowns in the second half and finished the game with seven carries for 73 yards.

Mitchell posted 160 all-purpose yards and had an interception.
