Chilton County Commissioner Shannon Welch, Peggy Hall with Realty South, Chilton Medical Center’s Anne Taddicken, MorLyn’s owner Tommy Glasscock, Chamber of Commerce Executive Assistant Brittani Ellison and Chamber Executive Director Mike Robertson met on Tuesday to discuss plans for the “Shop Local” campaign.

The advisory team for a new campaign called “Shop Local” reminding shoppers in Chilton County the importance of shopping locally held a planning meeting on Tuesday.

Peggy Hall with Realty South, Chilton Medical Center’s Anne Taddicken, MorLyn’s owner Tommy Glasscock, Chilton County Commissioner Shannon Welch, Chilton County Chamber of Commerce Executive Assistant Brittani Ellison and Chamber Executive Director Mike Robertson met at the Chamber of Commerce in Clanton to discuss different ways to promote the campaign.

Robertson said the kick-off event would be July 9 at 11 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce and run through the holiday season ending on Dec. 31.

“This is going to be a great program,” Robertson said. “We still have work to do to get everything ready.”

The team discussed different marketing materials such as billboards that will be placed in Thorsby, Jemison, Clanton and Maplesville as well as signs, banners, window clings and stickers.

The concept is simple— shop with local businesses in the county and increase traffic flow to local merchants.

Although the team is still working out details on different incentives for the campaign they hope the concept will gain momentum and look forward to the program’s kick-off in July.

“We are excited about this campaign and look forward to seeing how everything goes,” Robertson said.
