Ratliff said an event scheduled in Chilton County for the week of April 20-27 would focus on removing litter throughout the county and asked for the commissioners’ support in the form of a cookout at the end of the cleanup effort.

Caton said the commissioners would host a cookout on April 27 at noon at Goose Pond Park for anyone participating in the cleanup.

In other business, the commission:

• Approved Larry Mahaffey to the board of directors for the Mental Health Board of Chilton and Shelby counties.

• Approved Ludean Hicks and Doris Jones to the Chilton County Department of Human Resources.

•Nominated Doris Jones to the M4A board.

• Approved a resolution to go before the legislative session for a county animal control bill. Commissioners had to approve the proposed bill and advertise it for four weeks before it could be brought up at the next regular session in Montgomery for approval. If the bill is passed, it could go into affect in September 2013.
