Jemison council votes to close portion of Bibb Street

The council also voted to reinstate full coverage single health insurance to all full-time employees.

City clerk Sheila Hogge said employees from July 2012 were paying 40 percent of the single health insurance and the city had enough funds to cover full coverage.

Deputy Police Chief Marc McMinn reminded council members the 10-week Citizens Police Academy begins on Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Jemison City Hall.

The purpose of the Citizens Academy is to build a community relationship with the citizen’s of Jemison as well as inform those within the community about the police department.

McMinn invited council members to attend the opening night and said there are still spaces available for anyone interested in attending.
