Emergency vet needed in Chilton County

Published 7:11pm Friday, December 28, 2012

Dear editor:

I am writing in regards to the veterinary clinics in this county.

I could not believe that there are three vets in the city of Clanton, and not one has an emergency number. Well, one did but did not answer.

Without an emergency vet here in the county, residents must drive a sick or injured pet 1–2 hours away. I have never seen such.

I have recently moved here from another small town, but they at least had a vet on call 24/7. Maybe the local vets could work together and rotate shifts during after hours, weekends and holidays?

My pet is like my child, and this caused both my animal and myself great distress.
