Dates for Christmas parades in Chilton County are set

Although the Christmas season is still a few months away, people in Chilton County are gearing up for the festive holiday with preparations for Christmas parades.

Many of the plans are still coming together for the various parades, but dates and times are listed below:

Clanton- The Rotary Club of Chilton County will sponsor the annual parade planned for Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. Rotary club member and parade organizer Roger Yeargan said he is preparing applications for the parade to be available the first week in November. “We will have a stack of applications at The Clanton Advertiser and at city hall,” Yeargan said. “Right now we are working to put everything together but we will know more within the next week.”

Clanton- The seventh annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be Dec. 6.

Thorsby- The parade will be Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. with the lineup starting at the sewing garment factory 30 minutes prior to the parade. For more information, call town hall at(205) 646-3575.

Maplesville- The parade is Dec. 1 and is set to begin at 5 p.m. Those interested in being in the parade should line up at 4 p.m. at Maplesville High School. For more information, call (334) 366-4211.

Jemison- The parade is Dec. 1 at noon. Entry deadline to have a float in the parade is Nov. 16. The city of Jemison will also host the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Jemison Municipal Complex on Nov. 30.
