Calvary Independent Baptist Church

Calvary Independent Baptist Church wants to thank everyone who came to services Sunday. Morning services included a message from Numbers 13-14 on Caleb having another spirit that allowed him to view things differently from the ones who had only a casual spirit. People who only have a casual spirit see no urgency of doing the will of God. That casual spirit soon turns to a careless spirit and ends up becoming a calloused spirit with no real concern for the things of God.

Sunday night’s message was from Acts 1 on the background of the birth of Christ’s church. The birth began at Calvary’s cross by Jesus’ shed blood. The power of the witness of the church began at the resurrection of Christ. The placing of people into the body of Christ began at Pentecost, and then even at a later time is when we get advanced revelation to understand what God has been doing through this time.

We want to remind everyone of the upcoming wedding Friday of David Kirkland to Brenda Mims, and please keep them in your prayers this week. We also want to invite you to come visit and worship with us during any of our services. If your church does not have a Sunday evening service or a Wednesday night service, we would love for you come be a part of ours anytime. We are located south of Clanton just past Dollar General, right off Highway 31 on Fulmer Drive.

Sunday School is at 9 a.m., Children’s Church and adult worship services are at 10 a.m., Sunday evening services are at 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday night services are at 6:30 p.m.

For more information, call Pastor Oscar Mims at 755-9399.

Bro. Gary Fant got the morning service started off with “He Keeps Me Singing” and “When We All Get To Heaven.” Bro. Gary Fant blessed us with a beautiful song, “Has Anyone Seen Jesus Today.”

In the absence of Bro. Dennis Smith, Bro. Dewayne Castleberry brought the morning message, which was taken from Isaiah 55:6-7 and Revelation 22:11-12. We as Christians have got to be ready at all times because Jesus Christ will come back quickly. We need to look around and see how quickly time goes by, and that is just how quickly Jesus Christ will return to get his children. Also, we need to slow down and realize that Jesus Christ will return and make sure that we are ready to go when our time is up. We as Christians also need to be very careful because satan will come at us with things that will tempt us, and if we’re not careful we will let these things drag us down to where we can’t enjoy the time we have with our families. The service ended with people coming to pray, and the Holy Spirit was felt in a mighty way.

Happy birthday this week to Shawna McKinley.

Please remember these as you pray this week: Kathy Waites, Shirley Burnett, Melba Adams, James and Marie Johnson, Gary Fant, the Glasscock family, Sis. Carol Smith, our lost loved ones and our service men and women.
