Clanton repurposes old police cars

Published 8:28pm Monday, August 27, 2012

The Clanton City Council declared surplus two vehicles from the Clanton Police Department and decided what will be done with each vehicle.

Police Chief Brian Stilwell said both vehicles still run and suggested that the Chilton County Airport Authority be allowed to use one as a courtesy car for pilots, and the city sell the other through continuous open bidding.

The Chilton County Commission would have ownership of the car at the airport.

The council approved both of Stilwell’s suggestions, as well as a minimum bid of $1,100 for the second car.

In other business, the council:

•Approved a senior nutrition agreement for Fiscal Year 2013 with the Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging.

•Approved for Stilwell to attend the Southeastern Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar in Florence from Oct. 14-19.
