Youth baseball, softball all-stars still alive

Local all-star baseball and softball teams are in the heat of the tournament season.

Several local teams—from the Clanton and North Chilton leagues—are participating in state tournaments, most of which begin on a Thursday or Friday and last through the weekend.

North Chilton baseball

•The 11-and-under team is currently playing in the state tournament, being held in Columbiana.

•The 12-year-old team will be starting their state tournament in Albertville on Friday.

•The 14-year-old team was eliminated Wednesday from the state tournament being held in Clanton but has already qualified for the World Series, starting July 14 in Southhaven, Miss.

North Chilton softball

•The 6-and-under team finished fourth in the state tournament at Liberty Park.

•The 14-and-under team finished third in their appearance at the state tournament.

Clanton baseball

•The 12-year-old team will begin state tournament play Saturday, July 7 in Albertville.
