CCHS Gridiron Club launches new website, fundraiser

The Chilton County High School Gridiron Club launched a new website that allows the community to purchase CCHS athletic apparel.

The Chilton County High School Gridiron Club is kicking off a new fundraiser that will benefit both the Tigers’ football players and dedicated fans.

The club recently launched its new merchandise website for the 2015 football season in hopes of gaining community support and raising money for CCHS athletics.

Shirts, pants, hats and shoes are just a few of the many items available on the website.

Most items are available in orange, blue, white or gray, and boast the team’s logo.

While fans are cheering on the Tigers in the new apparel, they can rest assured the proceeds will directly benefit the program, according to Gridiron Club President Chris Smith.

“We have several needs that we are targeting,” Smith said. “A new sound system for the stadium, parking lot renovations, new uniforms for the team and other stadium improvements.”

Smith said the club is always looking for profitable fundraisers that are community-based and do not constantly require money and donations from parents.

“Alumni and students are always looking for a wearable item to show support and display their high school colors in everyday life,” Smith said.

The website not only contains football apparel, but also includes a broad selection of items specifically designed to fit any CCHS sporting event.

According to Smith, the Gridiron Club strived to create a website with merchandise for every Tigers fan, regardless of the sport.

Because the first football game is Aug. 21, the club has set a deadline of July 17 for orders to be in by the first game.

Orders will be taken past the deadline, but there will be no guarantee those that order will receive their order prior to the first game.

The website will remain open throughout the year for supporters to order at any time.

“We really want to emphasize that the items on the website can be used for high school, middle school and youth leagues,” Smith said. “It’s more of a community website with a Chilton County football feel.”

Smith said the club is encouraging group orders to save on shipping costs, as the minimum shipping cost will be around $9.

Orders will be taken through the website only.

Smith said the Gridiron Club will be selling some T-shirts and hats at the home games, but they haven’t determined any set quantities yet.

“The response from students has been great so far,” Smith said. “We used them as our designers with some items to be sure we would reach both the student and alumni markets.”

The Tigers kick off their season at home, 7 p.m. on Aug. 21 against Sylacauga High School.

In addition to the new merchandise website, The Gridiron Club will also be selling fireworks in preparation for the upcoming July Fourth holiday.

Players, parents and club members will set up at the TNT stand in the WalMart parking lot beginning Friday evening until July 4 or until they run out of fireworks.

The times will be tentative each day, but Smith encourages the community to stop by and stock up on fireworks for Independence Day, while also helping the Tigers raise money.
