Walmart theft worth $12,000 under investigation

From Staff Reports

Clanton police are investigating a theft that occurred at the Clanton Walmart on Oct. 10.

At approximately 2 a.m., security cameras captured a black male subject entering Walmart by jumping the fence of the garden center.

The subject’s face is not clearly visible, but police are hoping that someone may be able to help identify him.

The subject can be seen walking the aisles of the store and lugging multiple flat screen televisions and computers back out through the garden center. It can be seen that he avoided an employee and then proceeded to steal more electronics.

According to the CPD, he piled four carts high with expensive goods and left the store with them. He dropped them over the fence of the garden center to an accomplice, who loaded them into a vehicle. The value of the merchandise was estimated at $12,000.

A post with the video is on the CPD’s Facebook page.

The CPD stated it does not suspect any employees at this time. Investigators have asked for help identifying the suspect, and have reminded users in the post on Facebook that the video does not contain all of the information about the case.

If you have any information regarding this case, contact Detective Cameron Bates at the Clanton Police Department or message the department’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/ClantonPD.
