Bentley to hold ‘old fashioned’ rally Saturday

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dr. Robert Bentley will speak here Saturday in what is being called an “old fashioned rally” at the Pumpkin Patch beginning at 11 a.m.

The event is open to the public and will be a statewide rally, said Don Hand, a coordinator.

“I think it’s an honor for us to have a GOP candidate choose our town for a statewide rally,” Hand said.

Bentley will face Democratic opponent Ron Sparks in November’s general election.

Following some live entertainment, Bentley will speak at noon at the Pumpkin Patch pavilion. Afterward, members of the public may participate in a question and answer session.

Hand said Saturday’s rally will be an excellent opportunity for voters to get information directly from one of the candidates.

“I think it’s great to come in and listen to the candidate speak because you can’t believe everything you see,” Hand said.

The Pumpkin Patch is located at 1901 Lay Dam Road in Clanton.
