KayeCee’s moving to new location

KayeCee's is moving farther down Seventh Street in Clanton.

KayeCee’s Antique Mall & Flea Market in Clanton is moving to a new location, the store’s owner has announced.

The store had become a fixture at its current location, 224 Town Mart (the old Wal-Mart building on Highway 31). But due to the ending of its lease, the store’s last day in operation there will be Saturday, March 26.

KayeCee’s new location will be 1210 Seventh St. S., in a building across from Pizza Hut. The grand opening date has not been finalized.

“KayeCee’s has been a staple in filling the needs of this community,” said owner Deanna Dupree, who purchased the business in July of 2000. “I am looking forward to providing the same quality merchandise and having a helpful, knowledgeable staff on hand to assist customers and vendors.”

Dupree is the fourth owner of the antique mall, which hosts about 80 individual vendors and about 150 booths. She purchased it from Ronnie and Penny Surles on July 1, 2000. The Surles had purchased the business from Kaye Parker, who gave KayeCee’s its name.

Dupree, a native of Pelham, said her favorite part of the business is all the different people she meets and the wide variety of merchandise.

“It’s nice to make a living doing something you enjoy,” she said. “That way you never have to work a day in your life.”

Dupree said most vendors will be offering discounts Saturday.

“KayeCee’s Market Place will be open to the public soon, and we will be sure to advertise our grand opening date for our new location,” she added.
