The annual Peach Jam Jubilee is the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce’s signature event.

The Jam, which will be held June 24 at Clanton City Park, was discussed at Tuesday’s Chamber luncheon, but so were a variety of other topics.

Chamber Director Janice Hull recognized Chamber Board of Directors members and Chamber Ambassadors before talking about the organization’s efforts with a county-wide image campaign (“Come Grow With Us”), the county being featured in Business Alabama magazine, and retail development.

“I just wanted you to know some of the things the Chamber is doing right now,” Hull told those in attendance at Clanton First United Methodist Church.

Chamber Executive Assistant Lynsie Glasscock said the group has sponsored 15 ribbon cutting/open house/grand opening events since the start of the year, and has added 23 new members in that time.

The most recent new members were highlighted at the luncheon: Impact Catering and Design, Friends Steakhouse, Kountry Kitchen, Woodforest National Bank, Culp Fruits, Taunea Green, Gia’s on Main, Timberline Inspections, Apex Gas and Appliance Company, DJ^2 Entertainment, Our Helping Hands of Bama, and T.A. Aaron.

Attendance at the Chamber banquet in January was about 290 people, and about 150 people attended a political forum sponsored by the Chamber, Glasscock said.

The Chamber has also recently sponsored a tour of the under-construction St. Vincent’s Chilton hospital, the annual directory of members, weekly sales training videos and the Mike Robertson Memorial Scholarship.

Peach Jam Chairman Jason Calhoun gave information about the upcoming event, including that Rollin’ in the Hay and Deja Blue are scheduled to perform, in addition to local performances and a fashion show.

Peach Jam will have 125 vendors and 90 sponsors.

“That really says a lot about our community,” Calhoun said.

Peach Jam T-shirts are available for $12 each at the Chamber, which is located at 500 Fifth Ave. N. in Clanton.
