Peach Classic car show making a return

After a year’s hiatus, the Chilton County Cruisers will revive the Peach Classic Car Show.

Ricky Easterling, event coordinator, said the Cruisers felt the show was a staple of the festival and should come back.

“We actually didn’t do it to begin with,” he said. “The Catholic Church in Clanton did it for 19 years, but stopped last year [due to lack of support].”

Easterling said the Cruisers host a car show in the fall and figured that another show during the Peach Festival would only double the fun.

“We always do a show in the fall,” he said. “And it’s a perfect time for a show during the Peach Festival.”

The Cruisers sent out flyers to all parts of the state, from as far south as Dothan to as far north as Decatur. Easterling said he felt the turnout would be a good one, and that the vehicles that appeared would be of a wide variety.

“We’re hoping for around 100 cars,” he said. “We’ll have everything from street rods from the 1930s to brand new cars. We’ll have them stock, and we’ll have hot rods.”

In addition to vendors serving food and drinks, there will also be a swap meet for hot rod and classic car enthusiasts. Parts for various types of classic cars will be found in the vendor area. And, to keep with the classic theme, there will be a DJ playing oldies music.

Easterling said he hopes that above all, those who attend the event will enjoy themselves.

“We hope to have a good crowd,” he said. “And a good time.”

The show begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, and will last until 2 p.m. Attendance is free, and the cost to register a vehicle is $15. For more information, call Easterling at 389-0677.
