En Fuego Pre-Party set for next week

Local youth groups and others who can’t wait for En Fuego will get an early taste of the event at an En Fuego Pre-Party on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Union Grove Baptist Church near Jemison.

One of the many bands on the festival line-up, Ohio Avenue, will perform at the pre-party alongside speakers Brian Jones and Jeff Herron. Jones and Herron are local student ministers who co-host a radio show, “The Fight,” on Birmingham Christian radio station WDJC.

The pre-party will begin at 7 p.m.

“It’s just a way to get the crowd pumped up and excited,” said Mike Graham, En Fuego Board member.

There will be plenty of free giveaways at the pre-party for those who attend. Pre-parties have also been held in other states throughout the region leading up to the big day.

En Fuego will be Saturday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. in an open field off County Road 23 near Verbena. In addition to Ohio Avenue, bands will include headliner Kutless, Pillar, Addison Road, Group 1 Crew, Robbie Seay Band, Disowning Kaleb and Steel Fading. Speaking will be the highly sought after David Nasser.

Longtime participants of En Fuego will be happy to hear that co-founder Travis Crim will return this year as emcee.

The festival is free of admission, as the ministry relies solely on donations from churches, businesses, organizations and individual volunteers to operate. Vendors will have concessions available on site.
Both onsite and offsite parking is offered, and shuttle buses are utilized to transport people to and from En Fuego.
