Scholarship fund created in honor of Bradberry

A fund set up in honor of Kade Bradberry will benefit a local baseball player.

Bradberry, himself a young baseball player, died in a hunting accident on Oct. 16.

Bradberry’s parents, Jeremy Bradberry and Valerie Underwood Bradberry, created an account at Peoples Southern Bank for those in the community interested in honoring Kade.

“We don’t get any of it; it’s not for burial costs or anything like that,” Jeremy Bradberry said. “We just wanted to do something honoring him.”

Kade Bradberry, 12, played baseball since he was 5 and had signed up to try out for the Clanton Middle School team before his accident, which occurred in Geneva County.

Kade’s parents said they want to grow the fund into eventually providing a scholarship for a local baseball player.

“That was his thing,” Valerie Bradberry said about Kade’s love of baseball. “That’s all he wanted to do: play baseball.”

As the fund grows, Kade’s parents said they would also like to be able to give money to local schools.
