Sunday is always special for the people that attend Lomax Assembly of God, but that experience will take a unique twist with “Hollis Creek Revival” providing the morning service on Aug. 7.

The band is from Dothan and the lead singer of the group is Brandon Kelley, whose family has been friends of Senior Pastor Jeff Calhoun over the years.

According to Associate Pastor Erron Price, Kelley and “Hollis Creek Revival” have performed throughout the country for years, but recently begun to climb the hit charts within the past year.

“When we’ve had occasional musical performances in the past, it is rare to have them on a Sunday,” Price said. “However, they just bring so much more than just music.”

The group has been known to take the time during performances to share the meaning of the words in their song and to connect with the people in the audience.

Price compared sound and style of “Hollis Creek Revival” to “Mumford and Sons” and a mixture of folk and alternative.

“They have a sound that is definitely unique to them,” Price said.

The service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and childcare will be provided for those who wish to take advantage of that option.

“We have a little something for every age,” Price said.

For information and questions about the service, call (205) 755-9587 or email pastorerron@lomaxag.com. You can also visit the www.lomaxag.com or www.facebook.com/lomaxassemblyofgod for updates.

Lomax Assembly of God is located at 17580 on U.S. 31 in Clanton.
