Music brings people of all ages and backgrounds together, and that it exactly what the Heavens Strings is hoping for during its 5th Annual Gospel Music Singing event on Aug. 18 and 19.

Donations will be taken throughout the two-night event with proceeds benefiting the Disabled Americans Veterans Chapter 33, which is located in Clanton.

It will take place at the Jemison Municipal Complex. The singing will begin at 7 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 6 p.m. on Aug. 19.

According to the official flyer of the event, a big thank you was directed to Jemison mayor Eddie Reed and the Jemison City Council for their support of the event.

The feature acts on Aug. 18 will be event host Heavens Strings along with Holy Destiny, while the Mike Lowery Trio and For His Glory will accompany Heavens Strings.

The event is free to the public with donations obviously welcome.

Everyone is invited to experience the message of faith and patriotism that is guaranteed to be prominent on both nights.

Chapter 33 serves disabled veterans throughout Chilton County and is the only DAV chapter in the county.

It is located at 304 Park Plaza near downtown Clanton. Chapter meetings are held routinely on the second Saturday of each month at 11 a.m.

According to the DAV website, any man or woman who was wounded, gassed, injured or disabled in the line of duty during war time and who has not been dishonorably discharged is eligible for a membership.

Those who meet the requirements, but are still be in active service with the armed forces are also eligible to join.

Member dues vary and lessen, as they get older. Members who are 80 years old or older are eligible for a free membership.
