Friday night football recap

Billingsley 8,

Notasulga 7

The Bears blocked a field goal attempt with one minute remaining in the game to preserve the win.

It was a defensive contest and an important road victory for Billingsley.

With the win, the Bears improve to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in Region 4-1A.

Billingsley will carry momentum into its final region game of the season at home against Lanett (7-1, 5-0) on Oct. 26.

A home playoff game is still up for grabs for Billingsley with a win against Lanett.

Demopolis 50,

Jemison 0

The game was an all around struggle for Jemison, as the offense was held scoreless and the defense had problems slowing down Demopolis.

Demopolis entered the game ranked No. 4 in the ASWA rankings in Class 5A and presented one of the toughest tests that the Panthers will face all season.

It was a far different result than it was a week ago, when the Panthers picked up their first win of the season against Marbury.

Lanett 67,

Verbena 0

It was a tough matchup for the Red Devils against Lanett, the top-ranked team in Class 1A.

It was the fifth time this season that the Verbena offense had been held scoreless by an opposing defense.

Verbena will look for some relief as the team returns home for its final region game against Loachapoka on Oct. 26.
