FEMA still accepting applications for grants

Those who have been affected by the storms of April can still apply for FEMA assistance.

Over 81 people from Chilton County have been approved for over $15,000 dollars in grants. FEMA is encouraging anyone who had property damaged because of the storms between the dates of April 15 to May 31 to apply.

Over 34 cities, 21 counties, and two lakes are cleaning up after the deadly storms in April.

“Over two million cubic yards of debris has been cleaned up,” said FEMA representative John Hinds.

Over 80,000 people in Alabama have applied for assistance, with FEMA granting over $50 million for individuals, and $30 million for business loans.

FEMA is also covering those who rent the place they live.

“Even if you’re renting, you’re still covered,” said Hinds.

For more information, or to apply, call 1-800-621-FEMA. The deadline to apply for funding is June 27.
