Kiwanis Club hands out fair donations

The Clanton Kiwanis Club handed out $14,000 in donations to a handful of community organizations in Chilton County during its meeting on Dec. 14.

The money was raised during the 2017 Chilton County Fair in October.

Each organization that received a donation operates with the primary goal of helping out and benefiting the people of Chilton County.

The Chilton County YMCA, Cub Scout Pack 57, Operation Santa Claus, Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, Diane Williams’ special needs class at Clanton Intermediate School and DHR’s Foster Child Christmas Project were among the six programs awarded a check.

Each is a non-profit that works closely with children in some form or fashion.

The process of choosing which outfits receive donations comes down to a request for donation along with the purpose of the need.

On the Chilton County Fair Facebook page, it thanked all those who attended this year’s event and said that without their support the donations would not be possible.
