Local church offers summer yoga classes for children

Opening its doors to the children of the community, Clanton Church of Christ is offering free Storyland Yoga for children, ages 3-10 this summer.

The classes will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the following Mondays in June: 13, 20, 27 and the following Mondays in July: 11 and 18.

The classes will meet and perform yoga with the Storyland Yoga DVD.

“Usually we have story times during the summer and activities for the community, but this is something different for the kids to do,” said Amy Jolley, member of the church. “It’s good exercise and it’s relaxing. It’s our way of opening up our church to the community and being an outreach.”

The classes require children to be dressed appropriately, have some kind of mat for yoga and bring water.

Parents do not have to stay during the class, but may do so.

The classes will be held at Clanton Church of Christ, 1111 Lay Dam Road. For more information, contact Jolley at 389-5253.
