Big plays spark Red Devils

Two Christian Briscoe touchdowns sparked a dominant second half as the Central Alabama Red Devils defeated the Alabama Protectors, 33-6, on March 31.

The win improves the Red Devils’ record to 3-2.

The score was 8-0 at halftime, but to start the second half Briscoe returned an interception for a touchdown and then returned a punt 50 yards for a score on the ensuing drive.

The Protectors had the ball second-and-goal from the 6-yard line with Central Alabama leading 21-0 when a fumble was recovered by Darion Parker and returned 94 yards for a touchdown.

Because of all the big plays, Central Alabama’s offense didn’t take the field until 3:00 remained in the third quarter.

On Saturday, the Red Devils travel to Gadsden to play defending league champion Alabama Bengals.

The next two home games are April 14 against the ninth-ranked and unbeaten Georgia Bandits, and April 28 against the fifth-ranked and unbeaten Huntsville Rockets.
