Black and White Ball this weekend

The inaugural Black and White Ball will be hosted at Senior Connection on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The theme of the party will be “Christmas in Paris.”

The menu will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, as four food tables will be set up.

Everything from the decorations to the food will be designed to fit into the Paris theme, while The Usual Suspects Jazz Band will provide entertainment for the night.

The event committee will meet for the final time before the ball on Thursday. Any final touches with setting up will also take place at that time.

Activities during the event will include a Paris-themed photo booth and a silent auction with the paintings donated by members of Senior Connection’s art class.

An estimated number of 250 tickets will be sold and a large turnout of members throughout the community will be on hand.

“That’s great, especially for our first one,” Senior Connection Coordinator Vanessa McKinney said. “There is a sense of enthusiasm within the community.”

The first committee meeting took place in August and preparation for the event has been going on ever since.

McKinney has high hopes for the ball as an annual event and a marquee fundraising opportunity for Senior Connection.

“The community has just been so overwhelmingly generous,” McKinney said.

McKinney understands that as a non-profit organization, the backing of the community is vital to everything they do.

She wanted to give a big thanks to Southern Dixie Auto Repair & Towing, ACME Building Supply, Martin Funeral Home, Chilton Medical Associates, Clanton Internal Medicine, the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce, Innovative Home Center/James Ray & Associates, Durbin Farms, Hayes Drug & Gift, Dr. Bethany Baker Lyn, Bertolone, Chandler Drug Company, Heart of Dixie Parts and Equipment, Connell’s Pest Control, True Dermatology/Dr. Raj Patel, Gardens of Clanton, St. Vincent’s Chilton, Southern Care Hospice, Chilton Tag Division, Sun Crest Home Health, Ellison Memorial Funeral Home, Barking Frog, Marion Bank & Trust and Parnell, Inc. for their continued support.

“Without their belief in us, an event like this would not be possible,” McKinney said.
