Elsie Mae Smith, 85, of Maplesville, passed away Feb. 10 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
She was born on March 22, 1923, in Chilton County to James (Papa) and Eunice Irene Walker, and raised by stepmother Margaret Missouri (Miss Zudie).
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, step mom; husband, Richard A. Smith; brother, Claude Walker; and sister, Lorene Harrison.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her two sons, J.R. Smith and life partner Wendy of Holt, Fla.; Charlie (Al) Smith and wife Tammy of Marietta, Ga.; one daughter, Irene Gilbert and husband Butch of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Doris Smith of Stanton; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and her church family.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, Feb. 14 at Faith Baptist Church, Stanton with Pastors Bro. Terry Smith and Bro. Allen Yarlbrough officiating.
Interment will follow immediately after service in the church cemetery.
