Tommy Dewayne Knight, age 38 of Verbena, passed away on Jan. 1, 2012, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

He was born in Chilton County on May 11, 1973, the son of the late Tommy Earl Knight and Frances Carlene Tracy Knight.

He worked as a residential carpenter.

He is survived by: wife, Cindy Knight of Verbena; son, Tommy J. (Lacey) Knight of Verbena; daughter, McKayla (Robert) Smitherman of Verbena; grandsons, Tanner Maddox and Colby Smitherman; mother, Frances (Chris) Watley of Clanton; sister, Crystal (Russell) Roper of Clanton; sister, Mary L. Watley of Clanton; brother, Jeffery Cleckler of Clanton; grandmother, Margie Fulmer of Clanton; grandparents, U.L. and Faye Tracy of Clanton; nieces, Heather Roper and Lacey Roper; and great nephew, Heath Roper.

He is preceded in death by: father, Tommy Earl Knight; grandparents, Hollis and Mary Knight; and brother, Ray Knight.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellison-Mims Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Mims Funeral Home with the Rev. Thurmond Cleckler officiating.

Burial will follow in Walnut Creek UMC Cemetery in Clanton.
