Homecomings are the subject of this week. Three of our local teams are celebrating this exciting occasion while two are the homecoming opponents.

Marbury got its first win last week, and they have the night off tonight. Here’s a look at tonight’s games.

CCHS at Tallassee

It’s another Tiger tangle for CCHS, and Tallassee is likely the biggest test to date. Tallassee knocked off then-No. 1 ranked Eufaula in Week 3. While on the surface it appears like winless CCHS may not have a chance, I think our Tigers have a chance to put together their best performance of the season on Tallassee’s homecoming night.

For the first time all season, they will be almost completely healthy. They will likely get Kendrick Woods and D.J. Parker back this week, and they have been sorely missed.

Chelsea at Jemison

This game should present the Panthers a test. The Hornets have been road warriors, playing four out of their first five games on the road, and it has netted them a 1-3 record so far.

But don’t count out Chelsea. Garrett Salter is the go to guy. He racked up nearly 200 yards on the ground and 34 receiving yards in a win over Talladega last week. Jemison will need to rely on its go-to guy, Merrell Morrow, and take advantage of its red zone opportunities much better than it did against Calera.

Isabella at Verbena

The Mustangs want to spoil Verbena’s homecoming tonight after American Christian spoiled Isabella’s perfect season last week. Both teams want to rely on running the football.

So, that means the battle for this game will be won in the trenches. Verbena leads the series 37-16, according to records compiled by the Alabama High School Football Historical Society.

Horseshoe Bend at Thorsby

The Rebels have one of their best shots to get a win, but Horseshoe Bend is no slouch. The Generals trailed 21-14 to ninth-ranked Lanett for a while before losing 42-14.

Thorsby needs one of its best performances tonight if they want to get in the win column.

Autaugaville at Maplesville

The Red Devils’ homecoming queen should have no reason to cry tonight because Maplesville will roll past the Eagles. This is a good tune-up for Maplesville heading into next week’s region showdown with Linden.

Billingsley at Linden

This will give us a good indication on how good the Bears are. Tonight’s game is the first ever meeting between these two teams. The Patriots have been dominant, and the Bears have been dominant since playing Maplesville. I think this should be the game of the night.
