The Grand Jury for the Circuit Court of Chilton County returned 207 indictments during deliberations that ended Friday.

In its report to Judge Sibley Reynolds the jury said it investigated 310 cases and returned 207 true bills.

The jury’s foreperson Patricia Taylor also reported to Judge Reynolds “The law enforcement officers who presented cases to us were professional and well prepared. We deeply appreciate their devotion to duty, their hard work, and courage in risking their lives to protect us all.”

The jury’s report also stated it toured the jail and found the staff and personnel to be professional and diligent.

“We also had the opportunity to observe the Chilton County Courthouse. We noted that the judicial space is inadequate for all the court’s business. We recommend that the Chilton County Commission add the much needed court, office, and storage space,” the report said, adding, “We request that the commission also consider the construction of a new Judicial Complex.”

The grand jury report said the group reviewed the audit reports done by the (Alabama) Board of Examiners of Public Accounts on the Office Sheriff, the Office of Circuit Court, District Court and the Juvenile Court Services Fund. “We found no indictable offenses,” the report said.
